Opportunity Camp is the primary program of Unlock Ministries.
The quality camp experience is currently provided free of charge to
approximately 300 campers from Midland, Texas each summer. Last summer,
Unlock Ministries also took 84 campers from the Como area in Fort
Worth, Texas. This program is unique in that it combines character and
leadership instruction with a traditional summer camp experience that
includes hiking, swimming, sports competition and arts and crafts.
Twice daily, camp directors present curriculum centered on God's truth
as it relates to character. After each presentation, one counselor
leads two campers in an in-depth discussion of the material and its
practical application to their life circumstances during "Forest Walk"
times. High energy entertainment is followed by nightly campfire
devotionals which conclude busy days and allow for a time of reflection
and worship. Opportunity Camp is conducted at Camp Butman in Merkel, Texas (near Abilene)
